The Cooperative Behind the Coffee

This coffee comes from Aprysa, a producer group based in the municipality of Rodríguez de Mendoza in Peru's Amazon region. Aprysa is Fair Trade and organic certified, and nearly half of their producers are women: a meaningful distinction in an industry where smallholder farming is still heavily male-dominated. Their work is organized around three commitments that show up in how they farm and how they operate: community benefit, education, and environmental stewardship. These aren't mission statement words. They're the framework Aprysa uses to decide how to grow, process, and sell their coffee. The result is a producer group whose determination and care for quality is evident in what ends up in the cup.
